Ken Sibanda

*Ken Sibanda was born on this date in 1975. He is a Black constitutional attorney, writer, and film director.

Born Kissinger Nkosinathi Sibanda in Qunu, Transkei, South Africa, he is the sixth of seven children. He is a naturalized American citizen.   He is the son of Andrew Sibanda, a politically active father with South Africa's African National Congress (ANC), and Lucia Taruvinga, a nurse.  He holds a law degree from the University of London (LL.B) (with honors) and a double Master, in Litigation, from Temple Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia; and California Western School of Law with a Master's in Federal defense.

Sibanda is a member of the Lemba Jewish tribe in South Africa. He has written for numerous publications, including The Jerusalem Post and New York Amsterdam News. He has written for City Press, The Sunday Independent, and The Star in South Africa.  Sibanda is a frequent speaker on the Rule of Law and Human Rights, known as Tecumseh to South Africans.  His practice focuses on international criminal law, human rights, litigation (State and Federal), and civil rights.

Regarding the film, Sibanda has worked as a writer, cinematographer, editor, and producer. As a film director working in the science fiction genre, some of his productions include. All Roads Lead to Rome (Short) 2014, Colony Venus (Short) 2013, Red Lined (Documentary short) 2012, and The Triangle (Short) 2011. Since 2014, Ken Sibanda has been President of the African Jewish Congress, a rights group in New York.
